JESUS CHRIST
IS IN OUR STORY

Cornerstone Faith Academy was not something we originally planned. It is something God clearly led us to over time through our own homeschool journey, life experiences, and the doors He opened along the way.

For many years, I homeschooled our children and developed a deep love for the homeschool lifestyle. During that season, I was diagnosed with kidney failure and began dialysis treatments. Because of the demands of dialysis, I made the difficult decision to place our children in a private Christian school, believing I was no longer well enough to continue homeschooling them.

What I did not expect was that God had other plans.

Instead of stepping away from teaching, the Lord opened a door for me to begin teaching at the private school my children attended. There, I served for three years teaching history, science, journalism, and leading drama club.

During that time, it became very clear to me that teaching was something God had placed on my heart. Even though my life path and formal education had not originally pointed in that direction, God used that season to reveal my calling—to teach and invest in young people.

My husband and I serve as Sunday School teachers at Sterling Wood Church, a church family we deeply love and are grateful to be part of. I lead a small group for our church content team, helping guide and support those involved in media and storytelling. That experience became especially meaningful during my final year of teaching, when I stepped into the role of journalism teacher, allowing my love for media and storytelling to support students in a new way.

As that season came to a close, I had already begun planning to step away in November to return to the homeschool path. Shortly after, in January, the school announced it would be closing its doors. Looking back, it was a powerful reminder of how perfectly timed God’s plans truly are. What once felt like a difficult transition became a clear confirmation that the Lord was already preparing the next step.
As parents, our desire has always been to give our children more than just an education—we want them to have a strong foundation rooted in faith, character, and responsibility. We believe learning should be intentional, structured, and meaningful, while helping students grow in confidence, discipline, and independence.

Cornerstone Faith Academy was created with families in mind—especially those who desire the benefits of homeschooling without the full burden of managing it on their own. Our goal is to provide the structure, instruction, and daily guidance students need, while still honoring the role of parents as the primary influence in their child’s life.

We hold high expectations for both our students and our parents. Students are expected to take ownership of their learning, show respect, and develop strong work habits. Parents are not expected to teach the curriculum, but to stay connected, supportive, and involved in their child’s progress. This partnership allows students to succeed without placing overwhelming pressure on families.

We believe that education is about more than textbooks and assignments—it is about building strong foundations of character, responsibility, and faith that will carry students far beyond the classroom.

Cornerstone Faith Academy operates within the Texas homeschool model, where parents remain the primary educators of their children. Our role is to provide structure, guidance, and a focused learning environment while families maintain the freedom and flexibility that homeschooling provides.

With Christ as the cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20), our mission is to help students build strong foundations that will guide them in faith, learning, and life for years to come.
